Accessory : TuxMat Super Trunk
Cost : 140$ (- Discount, +Tax)

Replaced Convenience with Coverage.
Replaced Custom built with Custom fit.
Replaced Functionality with Style.

The new ones are still fresh out of the box and not yet fully spread/settled into the cargo floor shape. I had to force the liftgate down to close, due to the mat's sill extensions.

I already miss the functionality of the previous one. I use the under floor storage quiet frequently and lifting the single piece one is definitely some work.

Somehow I didn't feel the same satisfaction with the overall customer experience/ purchase/shipping/product experience like in the past. (This was my 4th TuxMat purchase)
After few weeks of use the trunk mat has settled really well. All the packaging folds are gone and I no longer has to manually close the liftgate. The mats extension to the liftgate sill no longer obstructs the automatic liftgate closure. In fact, I love that part and it acts as a cushion when someone (my son eating oily French fries) sits there. Yes, under floor access is difficult as expected. The quality of the mat makes up for that.

BIGLION.X 4 Inch Yellow Fog Lights
Thinking about adding these to my SaFe.

Image

If anyone has added an external fog, I wanted input on few things.
  1. How you got the power. I see that there is a positive terminal near to the front fuse box but I wanted to go the fuse tap way and if possible/available use an unused wiring.
  2. How to route the switch wiring through the firewall from the engine bay to cabin. I located the rubber seal for other wires, but its in a difficult location to access.
  3. Mounting location preference. I prefer 6 and 3 (behind front grille) but 2 (Hood mount near to the windshield) is the easiest for installation.
Any input is appreciated.

Are you disappointed with the standard, factory lighting?

Positions 1, 2 and 4 will probably mean you’ll never take the Santa Fe through a car wash!

Not disappointed, but when I added the headlamp tint, there is more than 20% reduction in the low beam lighting. And the white light itself is not very effective in foggy conditions. For the regular day to day use, I'm happy with the current illumination. Fog lamp use case is for those rare occasions and it's mostly for looks.

All my options have some kind of disadvantages and a factory one would have be the best. Wind noise is another issue. I wanted to install inside the grill, so it's protected against the elements. Down side is that I need to remove the front fill fascia for it and need to drill into the front impact beam(AVAS is mounted on that).

I never thought about the car wash situation.
But being a black vehicle I don't plan to take it to those automated car washes. Last black car had micro swirl marks all over it from Costco's 8$ car wash and I learned my lesson the hard way.

Hmmm…maybe you shouldn’t have done the headlamp tint? 😳

If I was going to add foglights - and I’m not - I would want them as low down as possible. Otherwise the fog will just reflect the light back into your eyes. My 2012 Santa Fe and my Miata both had/have factory lights installed low down at the front corners.

We don’t get much fog here on the SC coast, but I did grow up in the northwest of England where it’s foggy at least 95% of the time 🫣 so I’m no stranger to it.

Yep, I knew before installation itself that there is going to be a reduction in the light. It's an easy peel off, but I am going to keep it, as I love the smoked effect.

I knew about the reflection part and that's why location 6 is my first preference. But I might need some custom mounts and should keep it clear of the ultrasonic sensors.

Fog plan is m part function and part visual appeal. Current plan is install it with a bracket at the hood and sometime when I'm removing the fascia, get it installed inside the grille (upper or lower).

Have you considered something like this? The install would be much easier (although I'm not sure how effective they'd be).

Even though they look very well integrated for Santa Fe, it won't work for me.

1. It's a DRL + turn signal and not a fog.
2. It closes the functional air curtain and will result in higher drag, more turbulence around wheel well area, more wind noise and lesser mpgs.

I want to go with an amber/yellow light and will wait till the stars line up. At the moment it's too many unknowns.

Added few more miles to my other hybrid vehicle, as the weather was nice.. SantaFe is relieved of duty from all short trips.

I was not able to mount this heavy bike on my bike rack so far. Need some modification to the bike front fenders and also need an additional attachment for the bike rack for rear fat tire.

Here's my older, and somewhat beat up, Cannondale Delta V mountain bike. It can take me just about anywhere, and where it can't take me I can carry it.

No fancy, fat-tyred, electric bike for me! ;)

I miss my old bike that I could carry around. It got stolen from my garage.

Never appreciated it until the ~100 lbs electric one came. It's a nightmare to move the fat one around without the electric assist.

The new one is very comfortable and stable once it gets going. I can ride it to places where my lazy legs usually can't. It can go on soft beach sand and ride it right till the edge of the waves.

It attracts lot of attention and has lots of accessories as well. Special mention to the four different types locks (along with insurance) I added after the first one got stolen. Pretty sure nothing is going to stop a determined thief.

Nice Schwinn!

Many years ago I used to think nothing of doing 50-mile rides (and longer) on most weekends on my touring Peugeot but I'm getting older and not quite up to facing the off-road hills I used to love on the Cannondale. Crashing seems to hurt a lot more these days and I take longer to heal!

I do have my eye on a carbon-framed, USA made, Trek though. Cycling is such a great way to get some exercise.

You can buy a new Nissan Versa for Trek Carbon money. :)

You should checkout this one..

It's much lighter than my current one and with a mid drive motor. When it comes to the ride feel, the torque sensor does a very good job of keeping your pedal effort satisfactory. It really helps you go that extra mile(s). One also need to carefully as it can also reach unnecessary speeds with the flick of a thumb.

I will go to their warehouse sale (in CA) and see if I can get one at half the price. The brand was new to me, but after owning the current one for close one year, I'm confident that they are well made and use better components.

Only down side for me is, weight capacity down to 300 lbs compared to 400 lbs on mine. I carry my 5 year old on the child seat most of the time.

You make a good point, but who wants to drive a Nissan Versa! :)

I'm not after a full out race bike like the $12K Madone models. I'm more interested in something like their $2K FX Sport 5.

it's fast, light (just over 22lbs) and said to be a comfortable ride. For me, an electric bike would defeat the purpose of my buying one for exercise. And to be honest, although I'm not a fanatic about it, given the choice I'd rather invest in American tech than Chinese.

Low washer fluid warning was showing last few days. I was little surprised to see such a feature was present in the vehicle. Then I tried to get the warning back just to see it, but it looks like it only shows at random(there will be some logic behind it) and no way to look at a warning history.

Anyway I filled it out and added a washer fluid additive (from an older vehicle). Hope it doesn't clog the sensor and throw additional warnings.

Even my old 2012 Santa Fe Limited had a low washer fluid warning light.

And shortly before I traded it in on the new 2023 model the light on the old car’s dash came on, but after I refilled it that light never went off again.

I couldn’t be bothered to dig in there and try to fix it though.
