Bought a new 2020 Santa Fe SEL with convenience package in Pensacola. Love it , except: The Smart Key battery went dead after only 2 months, while away from home. In the rain. ARGH! Wife wants her 2014 Rav4 back but she loves the orange paint. I suggest you carry extra batteries (CR2032) and a screw driver to pry the case open.

I'm not going to be any help Don but I have a question being a 2018 owner I keep the folding key on the keypod. Do you not have a key with the 2020? Thanx, Dave

There is no folding key. There is a removeable key built in to the keyfob which allowed her to open the door and set off the alarm. She could not start the engine. My 56 Chevy never had this problem.

In the 2020 manual, go to page 5-13. There you will find the solution to the dead battery in the smart key issue.

If the smart key battery is weak or the
smart key does not work correctly,
you can start the engine by pressing
the Engine Start/Stop button with the
smart key in the direction of the picture
above.

The pic shows the smart key being placed in front of the starter button (inch or less away) with the key ring connector away from the button.
