One of our remote key fobs stopped functioning. I bought a replacement, did the usual process to add the codes, but then the new remote started working and the 2nd old remote stopped working. I programmed again, trying the old one first, then the new one, and the old one worked, but the new one didnt. Programming procedure I used (for 2001 Santa Fe), remove the lower dash panel, move the switch on the code box from off to set, hit lock on both remotes, move the switch from set to off, try the remotes. We *should* be able to have 2 remotes programmed, but it seems I can only get one to work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
NOTE: I reposted this here since I figured the 2001-2006 forum would be more appropriate.

Hi All . . I still have not had a reply to this . . . I have checked in the foot-wells . . under the steering wheel . . . I still can't find the little black box with a switch on it to program my new/replacement spare fob.
I haven't removed the radio/CD player yet . . But don't think it is behind this small unit.
Please offer some ideas on how to track it down . . . ;-)
Regards, tc542
PS It is the UK version of the car . . RHD.

Hi all . . again ;-)
I have looked in the foot wells, both sides . . under the steering column . . no luck.
I cannot locate the little black box with a switch on it to select 'Set' for programming the fobs.
I have not tried behind the radio/CD player because I think it is too small entrance to hide it.

Hi . .
I think that after trying everything . . i.e. recommendation and advice from many web sources . .
I have come to the conclusion that I need an alarm specialist to program the fob.

On the other hand, I found that the small 'Lock' switch inside my 2nd. fob . . (that was only working to open the car) . . .
was not secure on its solder pads . . !!
So, removed it, cleaned up the connections and re-soldered it in place . . .(Needed a very small solder tip . . !!!)
Bingo! . . now working.
So will not bother trying to program the secondhand fob I got from eBay . .
Regards . . . .
