Check engine comes on. 2012 Santa Fe 3.5. I have a scan tool. It pulls up PO455 which relates to the evap canister system. Does this mean the evap purge valve is at fault or is the whole carbon canister in need of replacement. If so, both of these are under the vehicle, correct? When I clear the code, it returns in a day or two. Thanks in advance for any help.

It could be a few things, but the first one to look at is the fuel cap. Either not put on well closed or perhaps the gasket on it has gotten worn or torn. Inspect it to see if it looks worn if so maybe try a new fuel cap. Certainly check and make sure you are getting it screwed back in good.

Otherwise you must have some small leak in the system. I'm not sure if Santa Fe's have PCM controlled valves on that system or not. If so one of those could be bad that are related to the EVAP canister. Sorry I don't enough to be of more help.
