You have my sympathy AND my empathy! I own a 2009 with 170K+ on it. The suspension on these things is notoriously susceptible to wear and tear and not easy to replace without one part's removal leading to another, to another, etc. Mine's making the same sort of noises you describe.
My upcoming catalytic convertor removal and replacement, is an additional example of "progressive" degradation.
My indie mechanic looked at mine....frowned...said he'd replaced one just LIKE it recently and it was a "nightmare of a job"....replacing the convertor.....then the pipe above it.....then the manifold......yikes!
He's suggesting I not spend any more money on mine.
I'm hoping I can find someone who wants a school commuter with a 10 mile one-way trip and doesn't mind burning 12-14 litres per 100 kliks to get there and back.
