Inherited my fathers 04 FWD V6 118k miles

Hello everyone my names Jake. My father left me his Sante Fe and it’s a trooper. He lived beachside and it sat presumably for at least a year without being driven. Long story short after towing it home and trickle charging the battery it finally fired up after maybe 4 minutes of intermittent starting cycles. It “drives” great BUT stopping is a major issue. Any questions will probably be answered with a great story pops would love it.
