Does anyone make a CAT shield for the Santa Fe Hybrid?

I noticed that the catalytic converter is not all that hard to get to and was wondering if anyone knows of a company that has developed a CAT shield for these cars? Googling really does not show anything for Hyundai.

It's WAAAAAY up there, for anybody to get to it from underneath, no? At least when I've changed my oil, I don't see a way to cut it out, but maybe I'm wrong. Now that the EPA requires the CAT to basically be right after the exhaust manifold (or the turbo, in our case), it's tucked up higher than before. Plus, there's hardly any space up there to cut the upper part IMO. At any rate, the most elegant and practical way to block that area, would be with a metal shield that extends under there IMO.

short answer. No cat shield for Hyundai vehicles. There are universal cat protective products (steel cables and clamps) but the cat is up in the engine bay and almost impossible to reach. What the other “cat like” thing you are seeing further along the exhaust system is? I dunno….even the Hyundai service people couldn’t tell me.

Ah… so that cylindrical unit just behind the dust shields coming down from the gine at a 75 degree angle is not a cat?

Oh lol….i thought it was the cat….
If you are looking to insulate the firewall and floorboard from the radiated heat....
You may want to look into the Self Adhesive Heat Shields that are available in many sizes from Amazon, other online vendors or your local auto parts store.
If are looking to wrap the catalytic converter to retain the heat, you may want to reconsider or look into it further. The cat is located very/too close to the head and it has been mentioned elsewhere that the cat proximity affects the cooling of the exhaust valves and other components. I wouldn’t add anything that exacerbates the condition.

thanks for the advice. With the issue of cat thefts... I assumed that the unit I saw while under the car was the cat and that it was pretty much easy access. Glad I am wrong on this one.
Got it….a theft shield not heat shield.
Sadly, a Sawzall and angle grinder makes easy work for the cat bandidos.

Can't be. Probably a resonator. Will pay attention next time I change the oil, but I did the 2nd one recently, so it'll be several months. Just opened the hood on my Calligraphy, and the cat is right behind the top of the engine, attached horizontally to the turbo. You can clearly see the clamp, and first O2 sensor right there. Then it curves down, where the 2nd O2 sensor must be (can't see it though), but there's absolutely no freaking way you can steal the CAT unit from under the car. Just look at it, and you'll see.
