Dash panel shuts down while driving

I have a brand new 2014 hyundai santa fe sport turbo AWD, it has 5,000 miles and randomly over the last 2 months I have owned it, the electronic dash will say "goodbye" and go black while I am driving then turn on a few minutes later and say it's doing a system check. It happened to me 3 times today within 20 minutes. It is scary to me since I keep thinking the vehicle is going to just shut off. Most of the time I am driving on the highway. I brought it to the dealer about a month ago when it first started happening and they looked at me like I had 3 heads. They kept the vehicle for the day and said they couldn't get the problem to duplicate and when they called the hyundai tech line they were told they have never heard of this problem. It's just very frustrating that I have my first brand new vehicle that I paid a good amount for and it is having these problems already. Any tips would be helpful as I'm sure when I go to the dealership again tomorrow they will be able to do nothing to help me.

Maybe you should go to a different dealership.
I would recommend getting a dash cam and setting it up pointing at the instrument cluster. You can them film what happens and show them directly.

Sounds to me though like a connector that's probably not correctly seated. Drive it down a nice bumpy road, and see what happens.

If it's not interfering with the engine, hopefully not too much of an issue.

Inform the dealership too that they have 3 tries at fixing the problem. It's a new car, so lemon law is an option (in the US anyway)

@BWheel - Great advice. Dash Cam or maybe cell phone cam.

Update

I actually decided to go to a different dealership and to my surprise they were actually helpful and seemed concerned! They ended up ordering a new instrument cluster for the dashboard. I have been without my vehicle for over 2 weeks now, so hopefully the get it fixed soon. I miss my vehicle :( Thanks for the advice my forum friends!
@fergferg7181 - Any updates?

@fergferg7181, any updates on your car? Was the dealership able to find the problem? I ask because my 2014 SFS has turned off and not turned back on in two separate instances over the past 3 weeks. I had my car at the dealership two times over the past month and they can't find anything...
Yes I am actually happy to say the issue got solved after lots of time put in by the wonderful dealership I ended up going to. It ended up being the control module. The found when wiggling it just the right way it would shut the dash off. They ordered a new one and replaced it under warranty and it has not happed in months!! I sure hope you get yours figured out as well. I really do love the vehicle other than that issue!
