Mediaman…i just got my Phantom mats….and they do look pretty good. Comparing to Hyundai's mat offerings…they feel like they sit between the weather techs, but slightly below the premium mats. I mean they look well made, but they are not as thick material wise as the premiums. i will be keen to see then in the car…when i get the car.
Agreed. The Phantom/Tuxmat are more "elegant" styling meant for dress shoes and sneakers. The WeatherTechs are heavy duty meant for workboots and mud. I've read that the Phantom/Tuxmat clean up better. I will be installing them on Sunday when I pick up the Preferred Trend. I take pics and give feedback.

But we saved at least $50 by using Costco vs ordering direct from Tuxmat. $50 is $50.

My next tip is for dashcams BlackboxMyCar Canada | Car Cams | Radar Detectors | OBD Scanners and I specifically ordered this one VIOFO A119 V3 QHD+ Dash Cam with memory card and the 3 wire hardware kit. Most dashcams are pretty even for picture quality. Price goes up with the amount of features you want or if you want 2 channel (front and rear camera). I looked at two tech sites that reviewed a mess of dashcams and they both came to the conclusion to not get caught up in the hype of picture quality as most are the same. Though the particular model i bought is the same price on amazon the blackboxmycar site does have sales from time to time and you can't beat their price when they do.

Who will do the dash cam install?

Okay….to get this back on track. Hyundai will probably produce 500 to 600 Santa Fe PHEVs for Canada preorder lists for 2023. That means approximately 1 to 5 per dealership across Canada. And that’s it for 2023. BC or Quebec aren’t getting priority because of EV mandates. Most likely the centre of the universe will get more.

If your dealership actually respects the preorder lists then that is up to that dealership. As we know some dealerships are total rat bags.

So you can now ask your dealership how many confirmed preorders they are allowed. They know now. They are lying if they say they don’t know. If you aren’t lucky enough then the decision is yours, keep your $500 tied up for longer…maybe a cancellation or wait for MY2024 or move on. It’s up to you.

but I can guarantee you that if you aren’t in the top 4 then you are not getting a 2023 Santa Fe PHEV. Some dealerships will only get one.

This is truly sad.... very very sad. How a manufacturer pushes the marketing hype on a product like this and fails to meet the high demand... It truly is disappointing. Makes me happy that we scored the Hybrid when we did... still waiting to get it though. Should be any day now.

I just got the following message from my dealer:

"would you believe? The eagle has landed! Your Santa Fe HEV has arrived."

I am now waiting a call from the sales guy to work out a pick up time and date to send info to my insurance company. Yay!
and the crowds go wild!

when I picked mine up I took a service mat (the paper mechanics put in the wheel well) and drove home. Then the new Tuxmats (Phantom) went in before I drove it again. No dirt shall touch the virgin upholstery. Lol.

I got sillier with this vehicle (fourth new one in my life). I ordered powder coated license plate frames fro AliExpress, floor mats, door sill protectors (and then I discovered the car actually came with them), a Dashcam and other such stuff. Boys with their toys. Sigh.

post a pic of your new Santa Fe when you get it.

Wheel Car Vehicle Snow Tire

So we picked her up Saturday afternoon And immediately hung up the obligatory Pink Fuzzy Dice (my wifes) along with Wildstyle Lego Figureine (I have Emmet in my Elantra). Have not driven her much yet, but I did install the Phantom mats, ordered a TuxMat liner as my old liner did not fit into this car. She is a beautiful car… and so comfy… so VERY COMFY… that heated wheel… the great sound system… Ok I am gushing now.

I have been going through the manuals and trying to figure out all the quirks and features. Lots of neat things to see and experience… for example, last night as I approached the vehicle, the welcome lights turned out (puddle lamps and door handle LED lighting) which is a really nice touch.

A couple odd things to note but not a huge deal… The interior lighting is all LED EXCEPT vanity lilghts, and cargo lamp. At some point I might try to swap those out for LEDs when the weather gets nicer… For exterior, the plate lights, back up lamps, and the turn signals are also incadescent… which kind of surprised me. I might change the plate lights, but the others are fine.

It snowed here so mine has been tucked under cover. I’m just wary of the other wacked out drivers here on the left coast.

You showed me something I didn’t know regarding the puddle lights. I haven’t been out at night to notice but I just went out and looked under my mirrors and dag nabbit there be puddle lights. I thought they were only on the Calligraphy trim. (y)

BTW. The climate AUTO button has 3 levels. They are low, medium and high for fan speed when the car tries to adjust for what you set the interior temperature to. SYNC makes passenger the same as driver setting and it disengages if a passenger adjusts their side.

I turned off lane keeping because so many drivers here crowd the divider lines I didn’t want the car automatically correcting itself right into the side of another vehicle.

the Tuxmat cargo mat fits perfectly.

If you are aware and apprehensive about relay attacks I purchased a wooden jewellery box from Michaels (craft store) for 10 bucks and lined it with this faraday material (2 layers) using double sided carpet tape. It was like wrapping a present except inside out. It works 100%. When the key fobs are in the closed box…you can’t open the car. The key fobs are blob from communicating. There are faraday boxes on Amazon but they are very small and barely hold 2 fobs with keys.

AliExpress has fob covers 1/2 to 1/3 the price of Amazon. (Rubber covers like a cell phone protector).

Glad you finally got it. Don’t you love that new car smell, solid ride and quiet because nothing squeaks.

We are happy...but for some reason the homelink rear view mirror didn't hold my garage door opener setting....will have to attempt a reset of the code and try again... Hopefully the mirror is not malfunctioning.

Also we have had a faraway box for a while from Amazon and it does work. Let me know if you do find a decent odb2 port lock...might be a worthy investment.

this is the only one that I have found at a reasonable price. it’s in USD so by the time exchange and shipping charges….may be close to $100 CAD. There may be import charges too.

the others I’ve seen are near $200 and involve rewiring some of the obd2 port wires which warranty will frown upon.

there is also this one which just plugs into the obd2 port and locks with a key. About $120 USD shipped but no reviews past 2021 so I’m a bit hesitant on this one.

Pretty crazy when you come to realize people are making a lot of money of a small pice of metal or plastic and a couple screws.
