We bought our Santa Fe PHEV earlier this year and love to drive it. Yes, it is a heavier car and won't burn up the drag strip, but that's not why we bought it. We love the luxury interior and all the amenities that come "standard" with this model. There is one issue that you have to be aware of, though. It turns out that the 12V battery only charges when the engine is running. I did like many have said, and ran the car on electric only to run my chores around town and did not use the engine, all the while congratulating myself on being ecological friendly. One morning the battery was dead. When I took it to the dealership, they told me that the only way to charge the 12V battery is through the engine. I have since installed a battery minder connected to the battery and plug it once a week. Any thoughts? Apparently the Ioniq PHEV has the same charging system as the Santa Fe.
