When the oil filter cap is unscrewed and removed shouldn't the canister be full of oil until the oil filter cartridge is pulled out?
I'm wondering if that tip on the bottom of the filter is the anti-drainback valve.
And if it's doing it's job or not.
Is the oil is draining down the center of the filter (where there is no valve)?
All the oil is gone when ever the plastic cover is taken off the filter element.
Doesn't this mean that on start up the oil pump has to fill the oil filter before oil is pressured to the crankshaft bearings or the valve train?
Won't this let the rod bearings run dry and knock untill the oil filter is full?
Am I the only Santa Fe owner questioning why the anti-drain back valve isn't functioning?
