Apparently it's pressed together. I'm not sure if I was part of the problem. I pressure washed my engine then started it. I hear a clang then somthing fall on the concrete. I immediately turn it off and look under the car and it's the outer part of the crankshaft pulley.

I called the dealer who quoted me $220 plus tax and two business days before pickup. I went on Ebay and found a new one (I assume from China) for $51 and will be here Wednesday. I will get everything ready Tuesday so depending on what time it gets here Wednesday I can repair it.

It's the first major problem I've had in years. It has 172,000 miles.

Follow up: turns out the two pieces are fused together with a type of rubber . The rubber dampen vibration.

The instructions said heat, normal wear and tear caused the separation.

I also ordered and replaced the belt, idler and tensioner roller. Easy installation.
