Hey all, just curious if and when you guys use this feature. I use it in drive-thru lines, etc but not in normal driving. I think if there was a way for it to default to ON, I’d use it more often. Anyone using this feature in normal driving? Thanks!

I use it all the time. Unfortunately have to active each time the engine is started. I press 2 buttons when I get in my new car I got yesterday, the auto hold and the button that stops the car from shutting down at idle. I don't like that only one usb port that you can use for data. I like android auto and using a usb flash drive for music. My Honda had 2 data ports,

The DCT tranny takes off smoother with auto-hold engaged, so I use it often. And disable it when I get to my destination, so the parking brake doesn't auto engage (it doesn't have memory, so it reverts to off when starting the engine again). Curiously, my 2023 G70 remembers auto-hold... but it doesn't have ISG (start/stop), thankfully.

Shark Racing (sharkracing.com) produces a module to default the AutoHold to ON. The same device can also set the ISG to OFF. Price is $92. The company is in Korea, but they are legit and the devices do work. They also have heated/cooled seat modules which will remember those settings between key cycles. Pull the center console top up to access the wires for the ISG/AutoHold module.

I prefer not to mess with a new car (ha ha), but if there is no splicing needed at all (an automatic deal-breaker for me), then I'd consider it if the issue was driving me nuts (which is not). Every time you remove a panel on a new car, you have the risk of breaking tabs, and/or introducing new rattles, damaging something, etc. At any rate, I like to turn auto-hold off before shutting engine off so the parking brake doesn't auto-engage, so such a module would be useless to me on that front. On ISG, I always turn it off immediately upon starting the engine, as well as putting mode in 'sport', but it's already 2nd nature to me, so not a big deal at all. But glad there seems to be an answer for those a bit more anal than me. Ha ha.

As you mentioned, it's handy for keeping the vehicle stationary without having to continuously press the brake pedal. This can be more comfortable in long waits, such as at drive-thrus or traffic jams.
For some drivers, having Auto Hold active during normal driving can add convenience and reduce the need to manually engage and disengage the brakes at every stop. Improved Control: It can offer smoother stops and starts in certain driving conditions.
Many drivers prefer to use Auto Hold only in specific situations, like drive-thru lines or heavy traffic because it might not always feel necessary or might interfere with their driving habits.
Consult your vehicle’s manual or settings menu to see if there’s an option to set Auto Hold as the default or if there are customizable settings related to this feature. Dealer or Service Center: Ask for Help: If you’re unsure about how to configure Auto Hold, you might want to ask your dealer or a service center for guidance on any potential settings adjustments.
Overall, whether or not to use Auto Hold in normal driving depends on personal preference and driving conditions. however, if you find the better option you can go to the Flashark racing site.
